‘Aripi’ to feature at Moldova Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai

The first Moldovan 3D animated film, ‘Aripi’, will feature as a 3D exhibit at the Moldova Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.

Produced by Moldova-headquartered Simpals Studio in a cartoon narrative, Aripi narrates the adventures of a Moldovan cosmonaut named Nelu aboard his spacecraft travelling through space.

As a confirmed feature of the Moldova Pavilion at the first World Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, Aripi will seek to highlight to the global event’s millions of visitors that Moldova has much to offer, including world-class animation works.

‘Aripi’ means ‘wings’ in Romanian.

Dmitri Voloshin, producer, director and lead writer of the cartoon animation, who dedicated the 3D production to a friend fond of flying, says: “Wings stand for freedom and leap of imagination.”

Aripi won the Best 3D Film 2020 award at the 2020 Khem Animation Film Festival in the United States, as well as the Best Animated Film 2020 award at the 2020 Kiev International Film Festival.

Expo 2020 Dubai takes place from October 1, 2021-March 31, 2022.

The Moldova Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai will showcase Moldova’s history, rich heritage and the creativity of its people, under the themes of craft, investment, and cuisine.

Dmitri Voloshin founded Simpals Studio in 2002.

The company is today the largest computer graphics and animation studio in Moldova.

Simpals’ current portfolio includes hundreds of video advertising productions and five short animated films.
