France Pavilion to highlight space exploration via immersive capsule
Space enthusiasts and other visitors of the France Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai will get to experience an immersive capsule that will present exciting space exploration and other themed content via cutting-edge 360° virtual reality technology.
An innovative product of French startup company Immertech, the capsule, branded as Voyager By Immertech will be on permanent display in the France Pavilion’s Belvédère suite during the entire six months of Expo 2020 Dubai.
Immertech develops and markets 360° immersive projection systems that provide an out-of-body experience by allowing users to digitally teleport to any given setting or era via proprietary, cutting-edge virtual reality technology.
Founded by Stéphane Brard in August 2018 in Magny-Cours, France, Immertech is an associate partner of the France Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.
From October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022, apart from space exploration digital content Voyager By Immertech will also present a wide range of digital content as part of the France Pavilion’s ‘Focus Fortnights’ programme during the Expo 2020 Dubai duration.
Seated comfortably in the immersive capsule, two users at a time will get to digitally experience a biome altered by human activities, as a way of examining humankind’s impact on the natural world, as well as digitally taking an in-depth and engaging look at the cities of the future, as an alternative approach to designing cities’ infrastructure.
Welcoming Immertech as an associate partner of the France Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, Erik Linquier, Commissioner General for France at Expo 2020 Dubai, said: “Immertech’s immersive 360° capsule will give all the visitors to the France Pavilion’s Belvédère suite an opportunity to experience something truly unforgettable.
“In addition to the unique nature of the experience itself, the company’s presence at the France Pavilion is all the more relevant given its intention to offer immersive content that goes hand in hand with our ambition to throw the spotlight on France’s initiatives to achieve the [UN’s] Sustainable Development Goals.
“We’re hugely excited for our visitors to come and try out this incredible experience [Voyager By Immertech],” Linquier added.
Stéphane Brard, Founder of Immertech, noted: “We’re very proud to be partnering with the France Pavilion and to showcase our tools which provide a practical response to the ecological and social challenges that we are facing.
“The Voyager immersive capsule will give the France Pavilion visitors the chance to dive deep into content produced by a range of French creators, with the goal of awakening the visitors’ senses,” Brard added.
While demonstrating French technological excellence at Expo 2020 Dubai Immertech aims to create new and more sustainable and accessible ways of travelling by developing digital products that both help to reduce physical travel and its huge impact on the planet’s delicate and overexploited ecosystems, while also giving people the chance to explore space and Earth – through immersive VR technology.
