UAE national space programme to feature at GLEX 2021 session

The UAE national space programme will be highlighted in a plenary session at the Global Space Exploration Conference (GLEX) 2021, taking place in St. Petersburg, Russia, from June 14-18, 2021.

GLEX 2021 is being organised by the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) and is hosted by Roscosmos, the Russian space agency, in the cultural capital of Russia.

Adnan Al Rais, Senior Director, Remote Sensing Department and Programme Manager, Mars 2117 programme of the Dubai-based Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) will present to GLEX 2021 delegates the current and future missions of the UAE national space programme.

In particular, Al Rais will emphasise the Gulf country’s recent space initiatives: Emirates Lunar Mission, UAE Analog Mission, and Mars Science City.

The main components of the UAE national space programme include: Emirates Lunar Mission, Emirates Mars Mission (Hope probe), Satellite Development, UAE Astronaut, Mars 2117, and Space Ventures.

GLEX 2021 brings together leaders and decision-makers within the science and human exploration community – engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs, astronauts and cosmonauts, educators, space agency representatives and policy makers.

GLEX 2021 will discuss recent results, current challenges and innovative solutions and it will offer opportunities to learn about how space exploration investments provide benefits as well as discuss how those benefits can be increased through thoughtful planning and cooperation.

The St. Petersburg space community event will also celebrate the 60th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s historic spaceflight that began humankind’s spaceflight era in 1961.
